my mondays in shah alam

Today's German word for the day is 'geradeaus' and mcmne nak pronounce it goes like this 'ge-rha-de-aus'.
'ge' as is 'ge' in getah.
'rha' is in mcm huruf rghin yg lepas huruf 'ain' tu..
'de' as in 'de' in takde.
'aus' as in 'aus' in australia..

The meaning is 'straight ahead'.. mcm if someone asks u in german of course 'eh, nak pergi ke main road ikut jalan mana?' so you answer 'geradeaus'.. clear?

ok monday.. i thought i wont have such a bad 'monday blues' this semester cause every month i'll be stationed in shah alam to teach biotech students statistics.. so bole la bangun lambat sket and bertolak for work about 930 and leave earlier.. ok bukan sebab curi tulang, tp cause in shah alam takde workstation..

but i guess i thought wrong.. the shah alam students memang menguji my patience kot.. sampai sakit dada dibuatnya.. they purposely talk LOUDLY when im explaining in class.. they laugh berterabur about whatever they were talking about when im talking in front of the class.. tak salin notes and tak salin examples.. calculator tak bawak.. and act very immature and they have very little respect for me as their lecturer.. and takde tokoh2 budak2 university yang nak blajar langsung.. well, being a lecturer mmg la kena sabar and stuff... but a person can only take so much of patience...

so i gave them LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of assignments and they have to submit within one week. lambat je dapat ZERO.. and im very strict at marking.. so, too bad la.. then they complained, "alaaa miss banyaknyer kena buat......" easy answer for that "if you taknak buat, tak payah buat.. lagi sikit saya kena mark paper and your carry mark is 0%.. its your choice.. "

they think im small and skinny and im just a lecturer.... but if they still buat perangai dalam class lagi i swear i will never help them for their coursework marks.. not even one bit.. i'll be damn strict and they'll be so sorry if they have to repeat such an easy subject..

my muffins

INGREDIENTS

• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 1 1/2 cups white sugar
• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1 1/4 cups milk
• 1 egg
• 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
• 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
• 1/3 cup whole almonds
• 4 tablespoons white sugar

DIRECTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease muffin cups or line with paper muffin liners.
   
2. In medium bowl, Sift together flour, cocoa, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. In large bowl stir in milk, egg, oil and vanilla. Mix dry ingredients to large bowl; beat well. Add chocolate chips and walnuts, stir well.
3. Fill muffin cups 3/4 full. Poke almonds into tops of unbaked muffins. Sprinkle muffins with sugar.
4. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

i spy with my eye... and camera...

In my previous post, i was blogging about 'The Secret'. I actually wanted to write longer but tiba2 mama asked me to buy tepung jagung and french bread cause mama is cooking beef stew today and needed those. Yes, I know, I am supposed to be cooking tp I wasn't feeling well today. So my 2008's resolution tak dilaksanakan on the 2nd week of 2008. Takpe.. I'll try to cover for next week. So coming back from Giant, I saw 2 cats acting weird. I know, it may sound abit vulgar. Tp this is what I managed to capture which I think is pretty cool.. hehhehehe


If you can see there are 2 cats satu warna orange belang2 putih on the left of the tiang, and hitam belang2 putih & kelabu on the right side of the tiang hitam tu.. see?

Perhaps you can see clearly here right beside the bushes, the hitam belang2 putih kelabu was looking around to see if there was anyone watching.. completely not aware of me standing right there capturing them.. hahaha..
So the black belang2 putih kelabu cat masuk into the bushes and the orange belang2 putih saw the sign and ready to follow..
See, tu dia dah sampai...

Ahahahah.. don't take this personally... they're probably just playing around with each other.. saje je nak buat cerita.. jahatnyer i nih...

my secret, your secret

Today's German word is lediglich (cara sebut: lady-glish) which means 'merely'.

Ok so, this morning i woke up at 645.. (sunday tu) i was feeling abit under the weather since thursday.. tp now dah alhamdulillah okay.. Not much update. I finished reading 'The Secret' by Rhonda Bryne and it was very inspirational. Thanks to Kamal Azra who recommended it to me.. and thanks to azlina's friend's friend who lend it to me.. Well basically what 'The Secret' says is that you can have anything you want in life if you just focus and think about it all the time. It also explained the theory that what & where you are now is actually a dream or vision you have before. Therefore if you want more in life, you have to envision yourself living that life everyday. And that there is nothing that can stop whatever you want in life. You cannot even have one single doubt that you will have it. It true though.. I guess..

So I started 2008 by reading 'The Secret' and thought about what I want in life and have starting applying 'The Secret' in my daily life routine. So of course if you think about it, in Islam, we pray 5 times a day. So when we pray, Subuh, pagi2 tu kita doakan apa yg kita nak.. 'The Secret' says, when you wake up, be thankful that you are alive. Show gratitude. So kita ucapkan alhamdulillah.. So there's actually no secret in 'The Secret'. We already know what 'The Secret' is cuma tak praktikkan aja.. So let's praktikkan 'The Secret' and live the life we have always dreamed of..

my maal hijrah and 121st post

Selamat Menyambut Maal Hijrah.. Yes, its the new year of our islamic calender.. The day was just perfect today. I woke up for subuh and 645 and felt the cool breeze as i was saying my prayers.. and as a public holiday, i made it a point to sambung tido sket je lagi.. so i pulled my comforter and it felt comfortable so i took another 1 hour to sleep.. yes, so at 8, farhan (my nephew) woke me up as he was jumping up and down right beside me.. "ok ok... im up" hehehe cute..
the morning was nice.. sunny and windy.. as the birds were chirping it made me feel like i was in a movie or sumthing...
i love public holidays.... back to work tomorrow

my black & white 2007

We ended our 2007 with a black & white affair this year. why i chose the theme black & white for our family gathering? you see, 2007 was the year that thought me the meaning of black & white.. whatever you say, put it in black & white.. banyak penggunaan black & white this year.. such as my offer letter.. and other events that can't be mentioned here..

The preparation took place quite early.. we marinated the ayam and daging korban the night before supaya barbeque dia akan kaw-kaw.. and it was indeed kaw kaw.. As usual, our family had a blast preparing.. as the number of members has increased significantly over the years.. and we have become closer when we have gathering like these.. Papa always tells me that he prays that we are very closely knitted and indeed we are :) [I don't know what pose they were doing on the top left but it looked really cool so i snapped a photo of it]

As usual the kids would make the day colorful by running around and sorta like helping out with the event. Somehow deep down inside, I really wish that arwah Rafiq was with us so that he could share this joyous occassion. Al - Fatihah to Arwah Rafiq.. Baby Rafiq, you're never forgotten ...

Izzah would as usual help out in the kitchen with her being the first and only girl grandchild. And with that being said, she also blended with her cousin Aman, forming the power rangers.. or powerpuff girls or whatever it is these kids watch nowadays.. The chickedees had to be locked up behind bars sebab nakal sangat asik2 nak jalan2 tak pakai selipar.. hehe.. tuh laa.. Cu dah cakap dah... tak nak dgr..


I invited my good good bestfriend Adina, and Kamal Azra cause I owe it to them for all the impromptu hanging-outs and belanja makan and minom.. Thanks guys.. Special thanks for Din for always being there when i need a friend :) and also kamal azra for the vanilla car air freshener and the hanging-outs.. you guys rock!

So here's to the black & white 2007. May 2008 be more colorful and meaningful for all of us. And as Awal Muharram is coming soon, we shall embrace this new year with a good heart and wonderful positive thoughts..
