Dora's back people :) I am blogging from Ikhwan's house in Mannheim, Germany.

Yes, alhamdulillah we are now married after 3 and a half years of long-distant relationship.

Thanks to the Al-mighty Allah, my husband, Ikhwan lafaz his akad with one lafaz at 1104am on 13th June 2009. And after that, it rained for abit at Masjid Ar-Rahman, Kg Tunku. Hujan rahmat :)

The walimah too was a success thanks to my family, especially Mama & Papa and of course my wedding planner, KakWar who did a superb job! May Allah bless my family and everyone who helped..

So this is marriage life. Sharing, caring, loving and everything. The past is the past and the present is where we are. And for me, personally, I want to focus on the present and plan for the future, insha Allah.

I think that is enough for now.. The flight was a bit bumpy and I slipped and fell right before boarding the plane (yes, that's me, clumsy dora hehehe). I think I'm gonna rest forabit more. We're gonna go grocery shopping later to stock up food for us to cook.

I'm thinking that I will write less and post more pictures.. since pictures can tell you a thousand words :)

Yes, you can be sure there will be loadsssssssssss of pictures :) Salam

my first weekend

>> Monday, June 01, 2009

Last weekend was not like any other typical weekend. It was the first weekend I spent with MSO. Having him standing beside me was something that I have been waiting for 9 months.. We watched Wolverine at GSC Midvalley. [OMG (biting fingers) Hugh Jackman and Daniel Henney] and it was superb!

We had lunch / belated birthday celebration at Zen and headed to The Gardens to do some serious major shopping. I bought a turquise dress and also a pair of strappy diamond-y turqoise shoes. Unfortunately, we could not find a turqoise handbag to go with it.. And then he gave me a special gift that I love so much!

Before exiting Midvalley area, we bought Big Apple doughnuts (Alien sangat chocolaty and sedapp!!!).

A lot of things going on and my mind is not really in a blogging mode. Maaf ya..

Status : Smiling :)

Alhamdulillah ala salama~

my BIG news :)

>> Friday, April 24, 2009

My daily routine is not so routine nowadays. Yesterday, after reaching home, as usual, I will have a drink in the kitchen and think about stuff. And while I was stirring my drink, I saw on the family whiteboard.

"** days left". And then it hit me.

I am getting married to my significant other in ** days :)

Yes. This is the announcement and the thing that I have kept private for the past 8 months. On nisfu shaaban last year, I got engaged to my significant other (referred as MSO in this blog). It was a very small and special event as I had my beloved family gathered for the occasion. We had a very simple one. Just the way MSO and I like it :)

*The moment*

When the time comes, I will distribute my wedding cards, inshaAllah :)

hari ini dan esok

>> Thursday, April 09, 2009

Lega rasanya. Tanggungjawab sudah dilaksanakan. Namun pada akhir kelas aku telah didampingi seorang pelajar berbangsa Cina, Adam Wong (bukan nama sebenar) yang pernah aku menyuruh dia berjumpa denganku atas sebab markah Test yang sangat rendah.

Adam : Maaf miss, bila yang miss free?
Saya : Esok the whole day saya free, u datang jumpa I esok.
Adam : Oo ok.. esok lepas prayers ke saya jumpa..
Saya : Lepas prayers ? U pergi sembahyang jumaat ke? (confuse sbb nama dia Wong)
Adam : Ye miss.
Saya : Oh? You're a Muslim ?
Adam : (senyum) Yes miss.
Saya : Ooo ok ok.. :)

Tidak dapat kugambarkan perasaan ini. Sungguh gembira rasanya.

Selepas kelas berakhir, aku melepaskan nafas panjang kelegaan.

Ms.D : InsyaAllah I will come. Is there a dress code?
Student 1 : You can wear anything.
Ms.D : Ok, can I wear jeans ?
Student 2 : No no.. cannot.. (bercakap Arab dengan student 1)
Student 1 : (menjawab dalam Bahasa Arab, bunyi mcm gaduh sedikit)
Ms.D : (looking left and right) So.. ?
Student 1 : You have to wear like this (jarinya menunjukkan pada baju kurungku). You look cantik wearing this. You have to wear like this.
Ms.D : (blushing tapi cover) Thank you. Ok ok I will try. InsyaAllah.

my first time : chow kit road

>> Sunday, March 29, 2009

We woke up as early as 6am for Subuh prayers and had heavy breakfast. My friend Michelle came over to see me for the last time before her wedding next week. As usual, we had our hoo-haa jokes and the usual berterabur laughs.. and then, i watched her as she drove off with her fiance's Gen2. There goes my friend, dah nak kahwin dah kau ye..

I quickly had my shower and we picked up my cousin Mimi and headed to KL. Specifically, Chot Kit. "Ooooooo.. sini la Chow Kit Road eh?" ... I said while watching out the window macam tourist dari German. Hehehe..
"Dora!! tak penah gi Chow Kit ke? " my cousin asked.
"Dia mane penah pergi area2 nih.. " Mama replied.

Yup. I know. I've never been to Chow Kit Road. For (COUGH) 2* years of my life, that was my first time. To be honest, it didn't look that scary at 10am. We got a nice parking and headed to our destination. Mencari barang - barang perhiasan dan keperluan.

But, things got really freaky when we walked at Pasar Chow Kit. Fuiyoo.. I've been to a lot of markets.. But this pasar, the way the penjual mempromosikan barang - barang dia, mcm nak cari gadoh.. And my cousin brought us to places yang macam ghetto jugak lah.. hehehe but it was one experience la for me.. hehehe

Later on, we headed to Jalan TAR. I felt a lot safer there.. We reached home at 3..

Suddenly, even at this time, its still sunday, i am already having my Monday blues..

The weekend went by just like that. I got what i wished for. I wanted time to move fast. And it is moving very fast.

Can I wish for happiness, success and Allah's protection and blessings for me and my family?

my time alone in Kuala Lumpur

>> Saturday, March 14, 2009

I was really hyped up about going to Kuala Lumpur (KL) today. For someone who works in a ghetto place, going to the city for the weekend is like a big deal (even when I live in PJ). There were some change of plans so I decided to go alone. I could use this time to think and reflect (again) and perhaps enjoy the city alone. Usually I would prefer driving cause it's less hassle, takde tolak tolak, I feel safer, senang nak park. I don't mind paying for parking fee and fuel for a little bit of comfort and it's easier if it rains. However, semenjak $ banyak disalurkan kepada perkara2 lain, and since I was going there alone, I hit the city using public transport. I wore like a schoolkid / uni student, took my small backpack, wore comfy sneakers and brough my DSLR in a small bag.

Yes. Public transport. I haven't used that for quite some time. A year, maybe? My brother dropped me Taman Bahagia LRT and I went straight to Masjid Jamek. Travelling was easier since I reloaded my Touch & Go. The city looked pretty much the same. Dusty and jammed and everyone seems to be heading to the same place as I was. PWTC.

See, there's a travel fair going on and people are just flocking in to PWTC. Macam nak kejar apa je. Takut tiket habis kot ? For me, I had a very specific objective, so I went straight to the appropriate place. MAS. I wasn't looking for some holiday package. I was looking for a ticket. A return ticket. And when I saw the destination and the price, I smiled and actually jumped a little. Murah bangat! Anxiously, I qued while biting my fingernails waiting for my turn.

Cust Serv : Yes Miss how may I help you?
Me : Hi. Can I know the exact price for flight to ________ on ________ ?"
Cust Serv : (Looking into computer clicking here and there) Ok... travelling alone or 2 people?
Me : Alone
Cust Serv : Ok.. For flight to _____ return it's RM ****, all inclusive. You have 30 days from departure date to return to KL.
Me : Oook.. Do I book first now? Are there any booking charges?
Cust Serv : Sorry, you have to pay and I give you the tickets right away.
Me : (gulp) Oo.. but I'm not sure of the return date yet.. Can I change the return dates?
Cust Serv : So sorry.. once you've purchase the tickets, no changes can be made..

Alamak. Susah la pulak. Even though murah GEGILE but.. alot of factors I need to consider first and I need to talk to someone first. I didn't buy the tickets today. I still needed more time. However, I purchased a headphone for my mp3 player instead since there was a Digital Fair too. Singgah juga Canon nye kedai but no wide eye lenses around for sale, just body + kit set jer.

Buntu la jugak for awhile. I searched for Lufthansa but no other airlines were there. Just MAS. I walked back to LRT Star and sat for awhile. 3 trains passed. I still couldn't decide on what to do next. I took the 4th train and headed to Pavillion. I changed to Monorail at Titiwangsa where I got a nice seat before the monorail was sandwiched with many many kiasu people. AAh! I exhaled when I reached Bukit Bintang.

Yup. I looked at Menara Genesis. It was the building where I used to drag my feet to go to work. For me, the sounds of techno music with Chinese salesman/salesgirl with blonde-rebonded hairdo and long fingernails is Bukit Bintang's true identity. Not to forget the salesperson who sells moving toys at RM 10 in front of Maybank. Youngsters (sadly Malays) who hangout in groups are completely oblivious at the fact that precious time is lost just by enduring this lepaking culture.

Like a schoolgirl who just entered the city, I innocently walked towards Pavillion. This would be my second time visiting this gah place. Watching yuppies with their cup of coffees discussing projects and clicking at their PDAs reminded me of the lifestyle I had before becoming an academician. (only, i didn't have PDA, just.. had a lot of coffee and no projects :p still drink coffee now too though). Comparing this scenario with the lifestyle I am leading now is like two different universe.

Finally I reached my destination. I stood still and looked up as everyone was walking. Wow. So this is PAVILLION. but.. It looked just like any other shopping mall to me. Except the COACH store by the side, which you rarely see in KL. But one thing you see a lot in KL is that the youngsters, specifically, mat rempit kinda or gothic chic kinda, they like to hang outside of the mall. I felt a big difference when being outside of the mall and inside. There was a whole different crowd inside. How freaky!

Pavillion reminded me a lot like Singapore. As usual, I took my time looking at the Directory (its a thing that MSO and I do when we are at shopping malls), at that time, I missed him. A lot. I acted cool since I had my mp3 player on. I was bopping my head a little (padahal lagu slow masa tu) cause I didn't wanna look like I was really lost and scared. I didn't know where to go really. But I was hungry. Nando's. Okla, so I had my lunch there. Alone. Yes, I was there alone. I took my time eating my Mild Peri - Peri with Garlic sauce. I didn't wanna look like a complete loser so I took out my planner and started to scribble notes while eating (yes, it did feel like a yuppie at that time). I took out my phone and started SMSing and calling people. I really did look busy when in actual fact, I felt lonely in a middle of a busy city. How is that possible?

Lunch was done. As a normal teenage girl (ewah) , shopping was next in the list. I remembered Tangs had a MEGA sale so I headed there. Malangnya, takde ape sangat. The shopping vibe in Tangs, Pavillion was not like the shopping vibe I had in Singapore. I walked around here and there. Stopped by at Crabtree, Braun Buffel, G2000, Soda, Parkson, Sembonia, Charles and Keith and a few others I can't remember. I decided to buy a pair of Soda Jeans and Soda Blouse to go with it. And I bought a pair of Sembonia shoes (FINALLY!). To kill time waiting for the rain to stop I bought some stuff in Parkson.

It was almost 6. I walked out of Pavillion. I walked by at Lot 10 and of course stopped by for an Iced Blended Chocolate at San Francisco. This place is a very meaningful place for me. It's where MSO and I had met for the first time after 7 years. Everytime I'm at Lot10, pasti akan ke San Fran :) It's like my thing :)

Mama called cause she was worried. Dah kol 6.. "... "ok ma, dah on the way ni" (pdhal singgah Lot10 dulu on the way tuh).. hehe. I was too tired to shop. After looking at some shirts, I headed to the train station. Seperti gadis kampung, saya terkejut dan takut melihat begitu ramai orang (esp mat rempit) at Bukit Bintang. I wanted to go home so badly cause it was just too scary. I was holding a lot of things but lucky for me, I got a seat. I reached KL sentral. I bought 2 pair of hijabs (like the one I mentioned before) for RM 30. A fair deal.

Lastly, I waited for the LRT train. I headed to Taman Bahagia again. Finally reached home safely at 730.. that's how I spent my time alone in the busy city, kuala Lumpur... very much different from kuala selangor, kan ..?

Bunyi macam tak pernah gi KL kan ? hehehe.. Lamenya x gi kl...

** post ini akan diedit lagi ye. Nanti nak bubuh some pictures I snapped.

our MQA visit.. done

>> Wednesday, March 04, 2009

the two days of MQA visit is finally over. i reached home at 9pm last night. it kinda reminds me of the time i used to work in the bank only this time my journey is almost 2 hours. my parents are out of town since yesterday visiting my uncle in taiping who is in a critical condition after the operation.

although i was very extremely super busy (banyak kata penguat tu), it was a valuable experience for me and i learned a lot of things throughout the process. of course i am one of the important but not urgent people.. the photographer. sure, i got access to places that important people go to, i can walk around and not have people looking at me weirdly cause it's the nature of my job as a photographer, and the usual question, "eh, berapa you beli camera ni eh?" and have them give me that very long "oooooOOooooo" look after i tell them the price. i kinda got used to it already.

and of course being the committee of Academic Quality Assurance (AQA), i had goosebumps and butterflies in my stomach everytime the panel commented on quality of education per se. luckily the head of AQA was there to justify things without being biased and giving responses that were realistic and made some of the audience nod with agreement.

tiring but priceless experience.

i am officially wiped out. how to teach my beloved students today ? mata pun susah nak buka..

my pay day.. and other days..

>> Wednesday, February 25, 2009

Tanpa disedari, today is already pay day.. Woohoo! dat would mean, pay bills, reload touch and go card, give $ to mom and dad, do minor shoppings, do major shoppings, save some for rainy day, save some for sunny day etc etc..

Tanpa disedari juga, (after not checking my pay slip for quite some time) today I realized that my income tax telah pun dipotong dengan banyak sekali! Damn it tol. I would be very much pissed with this income tax issue. [hmm, malas la nak citer pjg..]

Anyways, I'm glad I am still able to have pay days.. Thinking about those who got laid off by their companies due to the economic slowdown, I'm thankful I am in this industry and still have a steady job to go to despite having to wake up at 530 every morning and leaving the house when most people are still in deep slumber.. siap bole tido balik lepas solat subuh.. and now subuh masuk 610.. (takpe takpe.. saya pergi mencari rezeki... early bird catches the worm.. heheh) I hope that our economy will recover soon.. merisaukan lah.. and don't get me started on politics.. yikes!

Ye, kepala saya bengong la semenjak dua menjak nih (that's why this post ada banyak bahasa Melayu.. coz it's better to write in BM when you're in that state.. or at least, that's me lah). I've been very much absent minded and sometimes just.. absent. I'm there but I'm just not there, get it? So many things in my head at this moment I need to put every detail into a proper folder and rename each file (macam dalam computer jugak). I have about 3- 4 notebooks (as in, buku nota kecil, bukan notebook laptop) that I jot everything or anything that comes into mind. I bring those everywhere I go. Unlike MSO, I am not much of a PDA person, I like writing and scribbling.. like the old school style.. In the book, sometimes you may see formulas scribbled at the sides, unsolved integration problems, sketches of funny faces when I'm bored, signatures and notes, receipt numbers, quotes, thoughts, reminders, numbers, car plate numbers.. weird stuff.. that's me for ya..

And dikala masa ini, tiba - tiba rasa teringin sangat nak pergi on a holiday. I'll be going to Kuantan in early April for Michelle's wedding. We're gonna stay at a fancy hotel by the beach and treat ourselves lavishly macam orang kaya (konon) macam dalam citer Gossip Girl, Laguna Beach, The OC or One Tree Hill and worry about our credit card bills later :p . Wait, One Tree Hill citer orang kaya ke? I'm gonna do some serious photography session there ditambah dengan model - model yang sangat rajin bergambar.. It's gonna be fun in the sun!

oh, the meeting on friday was cool (in shah alam, of course).
Prof SK whispered to me nicely, "makan guna tangan kanan.. itu sunnah.."
WPM and I looked at each other and I said, "saya kidal Prof"..
he replied "sunnah Nabi tu makan pakai tangan kanan"...
so I smiled weakly and said slowly to WPM when Prof SK was not looking "but I've been using left hand bila pakai sudu since at least 20 years ago"
WPM said "you pandai lukis tak ? lukis cantik2 ? slalunya orang kidal ni artistic"
for 2 seconds I thought for a while. I know the answer is a big NO but I didn't wanna sound like such a loser so I said this, "erm.. I can play Music..? does that counts?"
WPM comforted me , "haaa see!"

He He.

oh ye, when I was busy doing my final exam questions, House called me to the office and said this,
"I like the slide presentation you did... You pandai la buat.. Betul, I really like it"

Suddenly, just like an eclipse, those negative vibes about House hilang buat seketika...

Sigh, camne?

** MQA coming next week. Wish me luck, wish us all luck. We're gonna need loads of those **

Funny from Desperate Housewives episode yesterday

Mrs. McKlumsky : Oh yeah ? you got one of those?

my friday night : nasi kandar pelita bangsar

>> Friday, January 23, 2009

I told Mega this evening, "I tak nak keluar la malam ni. Tonight I wanna stay at home and just watch TV". I have been wanting to catch Alexander Bukan Zulkarnain on Astro OASIS. But my plans changed when I received an SMS from Adina at 8.07 pm when I was in my PJs on my bed;

"Bz? Aku nk kuar minum ngan azra. Jom?"

And just like that I changed to my jeans and wore like a 19 year old (I like wearing like teens nowadays), with my sling bag and black veil yang tak perlu digosok and went out.

This time we went out of KJ area and hit the city, Bangsar's Nasi Kandar Pelita. While waiting for Azra I shared with Adina what's been up with my life and she updated me with hers. It's been awhile since we hung out for drinks. Azra arrived the same time as our cheese naan did.

As usual, we talked about stuff and laughed like mad as though nobody's watching (feels good to be able to do that). I realize this time our talks have more substance and perhaps.. this may sound scary.. but i felt like 19 and 2+ at the same time.. we covered almost everything.. politics, economy, social, movies, traffic jams, policeman, internet, health, school days, university days, gossips, nescafe, type of coffee, babies, cars, motorcycles, storm rides, filing system, compatibility, fraud cases, travelling, age, aging, birthdays, work, engagements, marriage, divorce, religion, life, death, life after death, objectives in life, what we want in life, the best way to live life.. and what's interesting is that deep down inside our crazy little minds, we do know the best way to live life..

And after sharing with Din my orchestral event, I had one of those crystalizing moments and it all became clearer to me.. As I sat there, sturring my cup of warm teh-o-panas-kurang-manis, the words coming out of Din's and Azra's mouth were actually written for me to be heard at that exact time and at that exact moment and it's somehow Allah's way of reminding me those facts that we all know so well about but perhaps the substance has lived inside of us for so long that we might take it for granted.

Maybe, just maybe, inside our 2+ year old body and 19 year old minds, we have grown wiser than we may think.. The best part is, we still get to laugh at mamak stalls like nobody's business..

Another episode of Alexander Bukan Zulkarnain missed.. If this continues, I may need a new label call "friday nights" or "mamaks". wat say u people?

If the shoe fits..

>> Sunday, January 04, 2009

Yes. I did wake up quite early this morning. At 10am, while most people had just opened their eyes or still having breakfast, I was already on my way to The Gardens. I like to get up early and shop, early bird catches the worm. So I got myself a nice parking space right opposite the entrance and I thought, "this is gonna be a lovely day". So I headed to Isetan. My friend, Rizleen told me the shoes there are not bad and I had high hopes of getting myself at least one pair. I had my focus. ONLY shoes, no handbags (I bought a nice one in Singapore for a good deal).

Finding THE PERFECT SHOE is like finding THE PERFECT MAN. You have to click with it, be able to walk around with it, feel comfortable, and look good in it. I have the average Size 5 asean feet so I have to compete with the others. And knowing that today is the last day of Savings SALE, I didn't have much time.

I stumbled upon THE PERFECT SHOE at Bonia. Closed shoe, gold = price RM 399 with 50% discount. In fact, I found 2 pairs. I wanted to jump up and down and do my boogie dance because I have searched high and low for THE PERFECT SHOE (I found one in Singapore, tapi tak menyingkap jiwa, you know wat I mean?). I tried it and aaah.. PERFECT, so I asked the Salesgirl, "ada size 37 tak?"

Guess what... It was out of stock :( I could actually hear my heart being crushed (bunyik kaca) sigh~~ I called almost everybody I could think of to help me out to find this Bonia shoes. So I walked to Midvalley, none. And to Robinsons, none. Bonia shop pun none.

Nak menyedihkan lagi cerita, I also went to Dockers. I saw the sweater that I have been eyeing on.. dah le RM 178.00, apa lagi, angkat la.. But I guess, my day was just not that lucky, "size M dah habis kak" sigh..

Masih tak puas hati. I drove to Subang Parade and I said to myself, this is it la.. kalau takde, memang tak ditakdirkan to get the shoes and the sweater.. Unfortunately, still no luck...

Guess I'll just have to wait for another Mega sale.. Or perhaps I'll have better luck next time..

I came back with a 100g of Famous Amos, a working Bonia shoes brown color (not bad la), a broken heart with a back ache and an empty stomach.. I guess this early bird did not catch the worm :(

Lesson : Next time sale, go on the first day, especially when you wanna shop for shoes.. If only the shoe fits.....

my first weekend of 2009

>> Saturday, January 03, 2009

Ok, ok. It has been 3 days of 2009. Let's review..

3. Get back on exercising. Specifically Saturday mornings before going to Pasar.

Update : I planned to go jogging with my friend but it was raining the whole morning. Went to pasar at 1030. I observed carefully how the guy chopped the chicken with full of confident and style. Today I identified ulam peria. Yeay!

4. Cook at least once a month.

Update : I cooked Daging Masak Kicap all by myself today without my mom's supervision or orders. Hehe.. turned out nice cuma minyak terlebih sket jer :) Guess I'm done for this month.. [not!] I found out that cooking is quite easy and fun once you get jiggy with it (this has been my favourite phrase nowadays) . But I like to sing or humm while cooking. There's a Malay myth saying that you can't sing in the kitchen. Nanti kahwin dengan orang tua.. (seriously? yikes! I guess Siti Nurhaliza used to sing in the kitchen.. Double yikes!!) Planning to make my famous Fried Macaroni this evening. Hope it'll turn out nice this time :)

5. Improve on my English and German

Update : Planning on taking some German classes this month InsyaAllah. Perhaps the one nearby Atria. Anyone wanna join ?
